Kerry, Kennedy...

...press for filibuster.

By Charles Babington - The Washington Post

WASHINGTON - Several prominent Democratic senators called Thursday for a filibuster of Samuel Alito's Supreme Court nomination, exposing a rift in the party.

The filibuster's supporters - including Massachusetts Sens. John Kerry and Edward Kennedy - acknowledged...

... "Judge Alito will take America backward, especially when it comes to civil rights and discrimination laws," Kerry said. "It's our right and our responsibility to oppose him vigorously and to fight against this radical upending of the Supreme Court."...

Some Republicans poked fun at Kerry - the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee who may make another White House bid - for allowing others to announce the filibuster plan earlier in the day while he was attending an economic conference in Davos, Switzerland.

Far be it from the Green Guy to poke fun at such an easy target. However, I will point out that Waffles the Clown is less honorable than Reddy Teddy the Robust. At least Teddy stayed in this country and stayed ready to do his part for this important cause of filibustering the vote on Sam Alito. This amazes me because I thought no one was less honourable than Reddy Teddy the Robust! Actually, I may be overboard on this. Waffles and Terri could be, even as I write, standind uncomfortably in line with wet ski boots at the Zurich Airport trying to catch a nonstop 1st Class Swissair to D.C.

Late breaking news flash!!! Waffles and Terri apparently got the ticket. Oh... imagine the pain of making a speech on the floor of the Senate wearing wet ski boots. OOh, oooh.... I share the pain. I can remember standing in lift lines in wet ski boots. What noble sacrifices will Waffles the clown make for freedom next???

Well, it could happen.

The really bad thing to come out of the Alito hearings is that the blindfold on the Statue of Justice got ripped off. The partyline vote in committee indicates that from this point onward it is oKay (according to the Demorats) for a Chief Justice to ignore the Constitution as long as he (or she) embraces the correct Political Ideaology. Essentially saying that there are two, not three, branches of government. And, given current Demoratic Rantithought, there really only needs to one branch of government.

I'm going to crawl back into the mud now.

Kermit
